Youth Futures Foundation

IMO Charity has partnered with Youth Futures Foundation to conduct research on youth employment. The YFF's objective is to aid young individuals who face significant challenges in entering the job market and, in pursuit of this goal, IMO has employed diverse research methodologies to gain deeper insights into the barriers faced by young people in relation to employment, with a specific focus on the South Asian community.

The outcomes of this research will be utilized to examine strategies for overcoming these barriers and determining the most effective means of providing support to young individuals, enabling them to achieve success in their pursuit of employment.

Social Action

The climate crisis is having an alarming impact on the environment, and the detrimental effects are intensifying year upon year creating high levels of uncertainty surrounding young people's future.

The world is home to 1.8 billion young people, collectively the power they hold to make their voices heard and create awareness is unimaginable. There is a dire need for bold action to help save our beautiful planet.

At IMO Charity, our young people are becoming climate activists, working on their social action project to bring about awareness of what climate change is and what we can do to make the situation better. We recognise that all individuals have a part to play therefore, this project aims to empower and enthuse young people to help decelerate climate change.

These sessions will include:

  • Diverse opportunities to develop and enhance life skills.
  • Workshops that address current news.
  • A range of activities: arts and crafts, sports, social action, and enterprise opportunities.
  • Being directly involved in activities addressing the wider community.

As agents of innovation, the young people will unite to amplify their voices, together they will speak up, stand up and step up!

Arap Young Person

IMO’s ARAP young peoples project supports young people who have resettled in Blackburn with their social integration, personal development and wellbeing needs. We do this by identifying individual needs, understanding family dynamics and tackling barriers, through regular 1:1s, guidance, education and support in accessing youth provisions in BwD.

We will work closely with the BwD integration and Calico team to communicate the needs of the families and use all the available resources effectively and work to partnership strengths to meet the needs of this cohort.

1:1 sessions with the young people and their families carried out by our trained staff focus on building connection, trust and an empathic understanding of the families and young peoples unique situation and we use this information to establish the right social support for them.

Project Aims:

  • Social bonds- supporting young people on the ARAP scheme to create supportive relationships with others who share their same sense of identity and a sense of belonging.
  • Social bridges- supporting young people on the ARAP scheme to establish social connections with those from different backgrounds; creating connections with other communities and supporting social cohesion.
